What is Guided Implant Surgery?

At Complete Dentistry of Midland we perform guided implant surgery to replace teeth. What does that mean?

Let’s say you are missing a tooth. Either the tooth has been missing for a while or maybe you have a broken tooth that you know will have to come out. Maybe you have a partial denture you are tired of wearing for one reason or another. A dental implant is by far the best solution for a single missing tooth since you do not have to involve any other teeth.

First we take a 3D image with our Planmeca Promax. This image lets us look in detail at all the vital structures and bone volume. Next we use our specialized software to plan EXACTLY where the implant will go. This is important since the placement of the implant will determine how well the final tooth will feel, look and perform. Finally we construct a surgical guide and use it to place your implant. The placement itself is very simple since the planning was so detailed and precise.

The end result is a perfectly positioned implant followed by a great looking final crown that looks and feels just like a natural tooth. At Complete Dentistry of Midland we use Straumann Implants, an industry leader in research and development of implant technology. Dental implants are sometimes covered under insurance benefits. We also have an implant package that includes every aspect of the procedure for one competitive low price. I love performing this procedure because the final result is so similar to a natural tooth.
